PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says he has received a report on the shooting of National Prosecutions Authority prosecutor Nsama Nsama and UPND supporter Joseph Kaunda.

The duo were shot dead in what Police termed “unclear circumstances” as UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema arrived for questioning at Police Force Headquarters in Lusaka on December 23, 2020.

Days after the shooting, President Lungu fired two deputy Inspector of Generals of Police Bonny Kapeso and Eugene Sibote along with overzealous Lusaka Police Commissioner Nelson Phiri.

The Head of State then put Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja on a six-month probation with the task of restoring public confidence in the Zambia Police Service.

President Lungu also ordered for a speedy investigation in the shooting of Nsama and Kaunda.

In a statement today, slightly a month after the shooting – special assistant for public relations Isaac Chipampe said President Lungu had received a full report from Kanganja.

“The President has studied the report and has since handed it to the Director of Public Prosecutions for attention,” Chimpampe stated.

Chipampe said President Lungu said the due process of the law must take its course.
