A 30-YEAR-OLD man of Chunga Township in Lusaka has died along with two of his sons
aged eight and four years respectively after administering them with poison which he also took afterwards.
Police say his wife had threatened to divorce him.
His eldest child, Trina aged 10 survived the poisoning and is currently admitted to hospital.
Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo has confirmed the death of Biggy Sibungo along with his sons Troy and Tunity.
Sibungo’s uncle Webster Kapito narrated to police that his nephew went to his house yesterday in the company of his three children carrying a plastic bag containing a bottle of a soft drink.
After arriving at his uncle’s place, Sibungo locked himself together with the children in one of the rooms in the house.
Later, Kapito spotted Sibungo’s daughter, Trina struggling to walk as she was leaving the bedroom.
Upon checking on the other occupants, Kapito discovered that his nephew and the two other children were in a critical condition in the bedroom and that one of the children had already died.
Katongo revealed that the other two children and their father were rushed to Matero Level One Hospital where Sibungo and Troy died upon arrival.
“It is alleged that the deceased male adult Biggy had a quarrel with his wife and that the wife had threatened to divorce him,” Katongo explained.
She said an inquiry and been opened in the matter.
Katongo advised to find better ways of sorting out their marital differences instead of resorting to violence and taking their lives and those of innocent children.
