LUSAKA Province Police Commissioner Nelson Phiri has not reported for work today. Police sources say his aides were seen shifting his personal belongings from his office to his car yesterday.
Although there has not been official confirmation, Phiri is said to have been suspended in the wake of an investigation in connection with death of two people who were shot in what Police have termed “unclear circumstances” last Wednesday.
National Prosecutions Authority prosecutor Nsama Nsama along with a UPND supporter Joseph Kaunda were gunned down as UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema arrived for questioning at Police Force Headquarters in Lusaka.
A day after the shooting, President Edgar Lungu ordered for a speedy investigation in the matter demanding that Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja hands him a report by yesterday.
It’s not clear whether or not Kanganja managed to hand the Head of State the investigation report yesterday.
