HOME AFFAIRS minister Stephen Kampyongo assured on behalf of President Edgar Lungu that no more blood would be shed going forward.

Speaking at a media briefing in Chinsali this morning, the minister expressed sympathy on the death of the two men shot in a fracas as UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema arrived for questioning at the Police Force Headquarters in Lusaka yesterday.

National Prosecutions Authority prosecutor Nsama Nsama and Joseph Kaunda have been identified as the deceased.

Kampyongo said President Edgar Lungu and government were saddened by the death of the duo.

He assured on behalf of the President that no more blood would be shed going forward.

Kampyongo noted that government had procured anti-riot equipment earlier that was meant to contain such situations and avoid incidents that would result in the loss of life.

He announced that an all-inclusive investigation would be utilized involving all relevant stakeholders to ensure a thorough investigation.

The minister instructed the relevant agencies to expedite the process.

He said the loss of life was disheartening because every life mattered.

Kampyongo further pleaded with citizens to remain calm.
