PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has charged that Lusaka City has seen rapid development during his tenure of office as Republican President.
The President says he hopes to continue on the same trajectory not only in Lusaka but the rest of the country, reports Mwebantu.
Speaking after he was conferred with the status of honorary freeman of the city of Lusaka, Lungu said he will value the status for the rest of his life.
President Lungu added that he is poised to make Zambia and Lusaka in particular a better place to live in.
“The people of this country entrusted me with the responsibility of leading this country and I will do my nest to provide the much needed leadership,” he said.
President also urged residents of Lusaka to look to the future and learn to deal with issues such as the global COVID-19 pandemic, climate change and global economic environment which the world is grappling with.
Earlier Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa said President Lungu has been working for the wellbeing of the people since he was a Member of Parliament of Chawama.
Sampa said the Head of state has also come up with various initiative to help the country such as the use of technology in the delivery of service to the people.
He said President Lungu has also built many mini hospitals across Lusaka District which has allowed people in the compound to have access to health services at their door steps.
Sampa said President Lungu has also helped a number of schools in Lusaka District to increase their enrolment capacity.
