MAZABUKA Central Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo has written the Speaker of National Assembly Patrick to have a motion to impeach President Edgar Lungu brought back on the floor.
Nkombo moved the motion last March but was stopped in a June 24 ruling, Dr Matibini said the motion could not be debated because it had become sub-judice after Robert Chabinga and Henry Mulenga commenced court action to challenge the ruling of first Deputy Speaker Catherine Namugala arguing that the impeachment motion complied with the relevant constitutional provisions.
In a letter dated November 19, 2020 addressed to the Speaker and received by the Clerk of the National and seen Nkombo is urging Dr Matibini to exercise his discretion judiciously as there can be no prejudice that can arise from doing so as the matter raised by Robert Chabinga and Henry Mulenga court has been settled.
Some of the grounds to impeach President Lungu are alleged impropriety, corruption and violation of the constitution.
