FELIX Mutati says there is nothing greater than national unity.
Mutati is the president of the newly launched Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).
At yesterday’s national prayer, fasting, repentance and reconciliation at St’ John’s United Church of Zambia (UCZ) in Chimanimani in Kabwe, Central Province, Mutati was present.
This year’s theme was ‘Zambia seeks God’s intervention for sustained national unity, peace and prosperity.’
He urged the congregation to pray for politicians.
“Today is the day of national prayers – prayer to reconcile. Today is a great day when the nation of Zambia and its people must come as one. There is nothing greater than coming together as one,” said Mutati.
“Pray for us, especially us politicians. We stumble. But we get there as politicians because you choose us. So, the responsibility of what we do lies with you. So, choose wisely, because you have power.”
He was accompanied by MDC chairman for finance and economic affairs Trevor Simumba and other party officials.
Democratic Party (DP) president Harry Kalaba was also present at the lively church service.
The main sermon was delivered by Lusakae lawyer and republican president aspirant Kelvin Fube Bwalya (KBF) – an old member of the UCZ.
