AS THEIR contribution in the fight against COVID-19, eight youths in Kafue District dipped their pockets, put together K4, 200, bought anti-COVID-19 items and donated them to three different schools.

The items included 300 face masks, three hand-washing sets and cases of liquid hand-washing soap with each case containing 12 750mls bottles.

The benefitting schools are Soloboni Primary School, St Joseph’s Community School and Holy Saviour Community School.

Malenga Suzyo Ngwenya led his seven peers who included Shadrick Tembo, Lawrence Kasali, Madalitso Mbewe, Audrey Chanda, Anna Tembo, Geoffrey Siame, Steven Mutale and Kazungo Emmanuel Ndeya in making the donation from their personal resources.

According to Ngwenya, his group decided to contribute and donate to the three schools as a way of giving back to the community.

Ngwenya said the donated items were also meant to help pupils and members of staff in those schools defend themselves against COVID-19.

Another group member Kazungo Ndeya known as Ken Dumbo in the world of comedy said the group planned to reach out to as many schools in the district as possible should resources be available.

As for Shadrick Tembo, another member of the group, he encouraged the recipients of the donations to use them for the intended purpose.

The three schools thanked the group for the donation and called on others to emulate their generosity.
