WHAT started off as a romantic outing of Kachasu drinking for a couple in Kazungula district of Southern Province ended with a deadly fight in which the man killed his wife.
According to Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo, 40-year-old Mukamba Mubila and his wife Petronella Kanchumbe aged 33 were both out drinking Kachasu when they picked a quarrel which soon degenerated into a brutal fight.
Katongo said Mubila is reported to have used sticks and other objects to hit his wife and later dragged her home where she was left before died.
“Police who visited the scene found the deceased’s body with multiple cuts and bruises on her body,” Katongo said.
She said Mubila had gone on the run after killing his wife but has since been apprehended with the help of the public.
“He is currently detained in police custody while the body of the deceased is in Batoka Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem,” stated Katongo
