CATHOLIC Bishops say they are saddened by the disrespect of life by the public who have continued to kill suspected gassers.
Briefing the media in Lusaka, Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops president Bishop George Lungu attributed the mob killings to ‘eroded morals in society,’.
“We are deeply saddened by the disrespect of human life and…we attribute these killings to but not limited to erosion of traditional and religious morals and polarisation of in the political morals,” he said.
“Every Zambian must uphold our traditional, religious and moral values with regard to the sacredness of human life and inviolability of human rights “ said Bishop Zulu.
Bishop Lungu condemned the irresponsible recording , posting and sharing of graphic materials on social media to the unsuspecting public to come to an end.
The Bishop said for the sake of posterity, the youth and children can no longer be subjected to witnessing or participating in the murder of suspects in cold blood or used as tolls of violence.
Bishop Lungu further warned those involved in the gassing which have shaken the nation to “repent and stop forthwith.”
