THE Seventh Day Adventist Church has announced the death of a youth leader it says was hit by a stray bullet during anti-gassing riots in Lusaka’s Kanyama compound last week.

Innocent Siachitoba, spokesperson of the SDA Youth Lusaka Conference, announced that Evans Simusa was struck near his home.

The 27-year-old entrepreneur ran a barber shop and was heading to his small grocery shop when he was hit by the bullet.

“From the time he was accidentally shot, our brother Evans Simusa has been admitted to the country’s largest referral hospital, the University Teaching Hospital (UTH), in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Sadly, on Monday this week he passed away,” he said.

The funeral is scheduled for tomorrow.

“Evans was a dedicated soldier of the Cross who until his hard to believe demise was serving as Deputy Ambassador director for the aforesaid church,” stated Siachitoba.
