SEVENTEEN Patriotic Front members have applied to the governing party for nomination as candidate for the forthcoming Chilubi parliamentary by-election.
Northern Province PF chairman Bwalya Chungu says the party will ensure that it adopts a popular candidate who will make the party win the seat.
The applicants responded to an advertisement by the PF Secretary General Davies Mwila inviting party members seeking adoption on the PF ticket.
According to a statement released by provincial youth secretary Chanda Nsofu, those that have applied include Cephas Chabu, Christabel Kalasa, Daniel Mayuka Mwamba, Felix Funga, Francis Kazembe and Gabriel Kapala.
Others are Gilbert Chilungu, Henry Kalenga, Lewis Kakulwa, Obius Chabu Chisala, Oliver Kabonga, and Oscar Mwape and Paipi Kwenda.
The rest are Remmy Chisunka, Rosemary Chiminga and Simon Musonda.
The Chilubi Parliamentary seat fell vacant after the death of of the member of parlaiment, Rosaria Fundanga.
The late Fundanga was elected was elected during the 2016 general elections, winning her seat with 13,412. Her closest opponent, Independent candidate Stanislaus Chele, got 5,387.
