PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has questioned the sudden interest from the Public in Forest Reserve number 27 following the degazzeting of part of the area for residential and commercial purposes.
President Lungu admitted that Forest number 27 was a very sensitive ecological area which provided a source of water but said there was nothing wrong with allowing a few more people to live there.
The Head of State said Forest 27 is a big piece of Land and some people have lived there for a long time without anyone questioning them.
President Lungu however said his government would continue managing the Forest reserve because it is important to the ecological system.
Meanwhile, President Lungu has urged farmers to plant the right seed that will be able to withstand droughts in case of any.
Speaking to Journalists in Chongwe District during the tree and maize planting exercise at the farm of his Physician Pangani Njovu, the President noted that doing so will be critical in ensuring food security at both household and national levels.
