A MOB believed to be linked to the ruling Patriotic Front has attacked opposition Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) leader Sean Tembo and his supporters injuring him and causing damage to his vehicles.

Tembo along with a hand of supporters were conducting a procession to disapprove the purchase of fire engines they believe was riddled with corruption.

The procession began from Manda on Great East Road and would go down Cairo Road and end back at Manda Hill where it started.

It was however cut short by an attack from a band of men who intercepted it near National Milling on Cairo Road – the protestors were sent scampering for life as stones rained on them while the unlucky ones were kicked, punched and slappped.

The attackers arrived aboard buses and small cars.

Tembo was hacked with a panga in the back of his head. His white Landrover Discovery which was also in the procession was damaged in the process.

A Toyota Corolla branded with Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) yellow colors has been also been damaged.

It is not immediately clear how many have been injured in the attack.
