Traditional ceremonies are pride of the nation – Wang

CHINA Jiangxi Corporation Assistant Manager Wang Wei says traditional ceremonies in Zambia are a symbol of pride and national unity.

Speaking when he presented a cheque of K50, 000 towards the expenses of the week long Kulamba Kubwalo traditional ceremony whose climax was last Saturday.

Wang said traditional ceremonies help build culture.

“Together with our friends we wish to congratulate Senior Chief Mukuni Ng’ombe, Chiefs, Headmen and other traditional rulers and the Lenje-Speaking people of Central Province on the successful hosting of the 2019 Kulamba Kubwalo Traditional Ceremony,” Wang said.

“We are cognizant of the fact that traditional ceremonies like the Kulamba Kubwalo of the Lenje-speaking people here in Central Province continues to be the pride of the nation and it is a very important event on the cultural calendar.”

Wang added that: “As a company that respects tradition of the people within our areas of operation, we believe that traditional ceremonies are rich in depicting culture and its importance among communities and nations, passed on from generation to generation. Such activities shape societies and build the rich culture needed for the development of Zambia.”

He said he and his company strongly believe that cultural events provide the opportunity for children, youths and visitors to assimilate the country’s values and beliefs.

He added that they would continue supporting such events.

“As China Jiangxi Corporation we believe so much in the community and human integral development and that is the reason why we will continue to support Kulamba Kubwalo traditional ceremony,” he said.

“It is against this background that China Jiangxi Corporation together in collaboration with the Zambia Jiangxi Economic Zone decided to donate K50,000 to Kulamba Kubwalo Traditional Ceremony through its organizing committee. We must make mention that we have continued to make these donations because we value and respect the people of central province as we work together even in the execution of various developmental projects we are undertaking together through the Government of the Republic of Zambia.”

He also said his company would continue working with the community.

“Finally, we would like to reiterate that as we embark on various projects including the construction of the Lusaka Ndola Dual Carriageway. We want to assure local communities that China Jiangxi Corporation will continue working with the local people and jobs will be created for the people as part of empowerment. So far, CJIC has created over 3,000 jobs for locals in various projects we are implementing across the country,” Wang said.

He noted that his company would create more employment in Central Province.

“At the Zambia Jiangxi Economic Zone in Chibombo where 300 million dollars will be invested in the first phase, 5,000 jobs will be created. We will continue working together with all stakeholders to ensure that all these projects benefit the locals in terms of job creation, empowerment and human integral development,” said Wang.

Meanwhile organizing committee chairman of the Kulamba Kubwalo Traditional Ceremony Bishop Luputa thanked the company for their support and received the cheque on behalf of the committee.
