THE Zambia Medical Association has urged authorities to come clean on the shortage of medical supplies currently being experienced countrywide as health workers battle surging COVID-19 cases.
In a statement this morning, ZMA secretary general Dr Masiku Phiri described the shortage of medical supplies in COVID-19 treatment centres particularly as “critical”.
“There is no shame in putting on record that the demand for Oxygen, Essential Drugs, Blood and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has overwhelmed the supply. This is an important step that will pave way for partner support and possibly will help improve public adherence to COVID-19 preventive measures,” Dr Phiri stated.
