NAKONDE Member of Parliament Yizukanji Siwanzi has pleaded with people who have switched off their phones after being testing positive for COVID-19 to come out of hiding and be isolated to curb further spread.
Siwanzi’s call is in the wake of health authorities complaining that people are switching off phones after learning their COVID-19 status.
Siwanzi told Chete FM News that the conduct was likely to result in the lockdown restrictions lasting longer than expected.
The lawmaker has also disclosed about 2,000, 12.5Kg bags of relief mealie meal has been received and would be distributed to flood victims who have been hardest hit by COVID-19 restrictions.
Nakonde alone has so far recorded 398 cases of the virus with cumulative total for the country standing at 668 and 7 death.
