Nakonde COVID-19 contacts go into hiding

SEVERAL people who have been identified in contact tracing in Nakonde and those tested positive are said to be switching off phones once they know the results.

Nakonde District Health Promotions Officer (DHPO) Getrude Chipampe complained to Chete FM News in Nakonde that the risk of infection could soar more than expected if the behaviour continues.

Nakonde district has seen a sharp rise in the number of Coronavirus cases with the cumulative number standing at 202 COVID-19 positive cases, almost half the country’s cumulative total.

Nakonde is currently under lockdown which will be reviewed on Thursday this week.

Public places are being disinfected with the border only open to trucks carrying fuel, medicine and other essential goods.
