TODAY’S daily COVID-19 briefing by minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya has given many hope as he announced one more recovery and no new Coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours.
Dr Chilufya said one more person had been discharged bringing the total number of recoveries to three with 35 still being treated in isolation facilities while with one death.
Dr Chilufya said over 5000 cases were still on surveillance.
He disclosed that 280 public alerts were recorded and none tested positive and have been sent home and further said 1,544 people had successfully completed the 14-day quarantine period and have been discharged.
“Statistics look encouraging and promising but it’s not time to relent,” Dr Chilufya warned
He emphasized the need to heed to all the health guidelines such as social distancing and avoidance of unnecessary travels.
Dr Chilufya declared the new residence at the University of Zambia Great East Road campus as a quarantine centre for truck drivers bringing various goods in the country.
Zambia has recorded 39 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with one death with three recoveries.
35 people are still in isolation facilities receiving treatment under the watchful eye of health experts in Lusaka and Masaiti on the Copperbelt.
