THE Ministry of Health has announced that test results of 16 people are being awaited after tests at The University Teaching Hospital Virology Lab.

The ministry announced through it’s Facebook page that it received 91 COVID-19 samples and “processed” 75 samples out which three confirmed positive for COVID-19.

“16 results are pending as at 22 March 2020,” the ministry revealed.

Since breaking out late last year, the virus has infected more than 300,000 people and killed about 14,000 around the world.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared the COVID-19 a global pandemic to which governments have responded by shutting boarders and restricting movements as well as mass public gatherings.

In the past week, the Zambian government announced the closure of all schools and restricted the duration of religious gatherings to an hour while stepping up messages towards the prevention of the spread of the Coronavirus.
