MARRIED couples should embrace the habit of consuming more vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and peppers to improve their sexual health and to bring happiness in their homes.
And Bureau of Medical Nutrition director Jiji Cheelo says the fight against poor diet will be won if Zambians start eating plant-based food like vegetables to boost their immune system.
Speaking in an interview, Dr Cheelo said consuming nutritious foods which contain protein, vitamins, fats, carbohydrates and minerals is the only way couples can bear healthy babies and maintain a fertile reproductive health.
“If they (couples) decide to ignore this advice, then we expect to see divorce rates going up and unhappy people roaming the streets with ‘tempers’ which cannot be controlled,” Dr Cheelo said.
He said the Bureau has been educating people on the importance of right living and eating habits to have healthy productive families.
