GASSING incidents have spread to Eastern Province where it has been reported that 33 people have been gassed with unknown chemicals.
Eastern Province Police Deputy Commissioner Geoffrey Kunda said the affected people were taken to Chipata Central and Chipata District Hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.
Kunda told Breeze FM News that 16 people were gassed in Chimwemwe, eight in Mthini farms, five in Msekela and four students at Jubeva College of Education at their boarding house.
Kunda explained that the incidences occurred around 19 to 21 hours last night.
He said the victims complained of some strange smell and being chocked with unknown chemicals and that they did not see anyone throwing chemicals in their houses.
Kunda further said police have launched investigations into the matter and that Police officers will continue conducting patrols to maintain law and order.
He has advised members of the public to be alert and ensure their homes were secured and avoid unnecessary movements at night.
