FOUR people, including a 13-year-old boy, allegedly tied up their 45-year-old brother-in-law and forced him to drink a deadly substance after accusing him of having bewitched their sister.
Their victim was forced to drink some concoction which is believed to have led to his death.
Police have arrested three of the older suspects, while the juvenile is still at large.
Luapula police Commissioner Elias Chushi confirmed this in an interview with Times of Zambia yesterday, identifying the deceased as Lambenshi Mwewa of Twenti village in Chief Kalasamukoso’s area in Samfya district.
“It is alleged that Mwewa bewitched his wife by making her mentally ill
as part of a ritual to acquire riches for himself,” Chushi
Chushi said the four suspects, Vincent Bwalya, 43, Charles Kaindoka 21,
Short Kaindoka 24 and the juvenile tied up Mwewa’s arms and legs with
rubber bands and forced him to drink the poisonous substance
until he died.
The body of the deceased is in Samfya District hospital mortuary.
