ZAMBIAN will continue to endure 13 hours of load shedding because repairs at the 150 megawatts generator at Maamba Collieries have not been completed
Zesco Public Relations Manager Hazel Zulu says the generator will remain at 50 percent dispatchable capacity to protect installations.
Ms. Zulu says the prolonged load shedding management will continue until further notice.
ZESCO is yet to conclude a 300 megawatts power supply agreement with South Africa’s Eskom to mitigate the 700 megawatts deficit.
Last week, Minister of Energy Mathew Nkhuwa told the nation that the delay has been caused by the two power utility company’s failure to agree on duration of contract.
The Minister further committed to paying 10 million dollars to Eskom as down payment towards 20.5 million dollars for 300 megawatts per month.
