MANY netizens have countless times accused celebrated artiste Yo Maps (Elton Mulenga) and his entire clan of being boastful due to how they flaunt their achievements on the socials.
Yo Maps comes from a humble background in the small town of Kabwe, humorously known as “Sunda Station” for being a pit stop for urgent biological needs where passengers disembark primarily to relieve themselves.
The flaunting of vehicles has also caused the artiste to come into conflict with the law after he posted his Cru Cru (Land Cruiser) which was later seized by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for investigation purposes.
It’s been a year since the commission seized the property and Yo Maps revealed that he could even afford four Cru Crus simply because he works hard.
In a recent interview with his wife, Kidist on her new podcast, Yo Maps set the record straight on this assertion.
He shared that he does not consider the flaunting of achievements as being boastful.
Instead, Yo Maps revealed that the “flaunting” is as a result of the artiste wanting to inspire young people who may have come from humble backgrounds to remind them that they can still make it in this life no matter where they come from.
“I’m not boastful, I come from a small town you know. So when you see me posting my cars or anything I have accomplished, it’s because I want to inspire young people out there like a young guy from Kanyama or from Bauleni or Mandevu, all those kinds of places,” he noted.
“I’m just here to inspire them to say it doesn’t matter where you are coming from, I want them to see that you can still come from a poor family and still make it. If they don’t see such posts, how will they ever know they can make it?”
Away from the music, the artiste revealed that he has other ventures that contribute to his income.
