A TWENTY-NINE-YEAR OLD Kitwe man has pleaded guilty to stealing 25 bras which were entrusted to him to sell.
Joseph Mwenya, a resident of Mindolo Township in Kitwe, was appearing before Magistrate Malota Phiri charged with theft by an agent.
Particulars of the offence are that between December 1 and December 31, 2020 Mwenya stole 25 bras valued at K625 which were given to him by Christina Zulu to sell and return the proceeds.
When the matter came up for plea, Mwenya pleaded guilty to the charge saying when he sold the items he used money to sort out some problems that he was facing.
Facts before the court were that on an unknown date Zulu entrusted Mwenya with the underwear so that he could sell them for her and he would be given a commission thereafter.
The court heard that a few days after Mwenya got the items he disappeared until April 11, 2021 when Zulu met him at Chimwemwe market.
Magistrate Phiri heard that Mwenya was apprehended and taken to Chimwemwe Police Post where the admitted committing the offence.
Phiri sentenced Mwenya to six months imprisonment suspended to one year on condition that he pays back Zulu K625 forthwith failure to which he would be imprisoned for six months.
