What we focus on-grows …Introspection time with JBM

I find the above theme to be a true life principle and several instances and vivid examples can easily be given in my own personal life. Merriam’s Dictionary defines the term ‘Focus’ as the form of concentrating or paying attention to the most pressing needs. This may involve a focus on the positive or negative things but the principle is that it will surely grow.

 

Life’s principle entails that when we focus on something, a goal, a dream, or a desire among others, we concentrate and new ideas and innovation emanate eventually pushing it to another level. In other words, what the mind tends to focus on activates hidden treasures surrounding it, and before long growth is guaranteed.

 

Alana Hill once stated that generally, it is not easy to stay focused in life because so many things demand our attention. However, the need to prioritize what you deem most important is where one finds most of their energy channeled. This is what contributes to growth in the area of focus. This might be in one’s health, wealth, social relationships, projects, business, and academic pursuits among others.

 

The adage, ‘what we focus on grows’ suggests further that growth is also determined by the kind of lens of life one has embraced. As espoused by Michal Spiegelman, if one has a negative lens, one will attract negative energy and growth in that negativity. If it is the positive lens, the same happens with positive growth being registered.

 

This suggests that you can root out negativity from your mind and re-focus on the positive lane.

It is often said ‘We bring about what we think about’. Meaning if one was to grow personally and professionally, the key is to evaluate what preoccupies their mind or thoughts.

 

So what you focus on grows, good or bad, you are the one to determine that. What area do you wish to grow in this year 2023? Remember, the battle is embedded in deliberate actions that you believe may enhance your focus in order to achieve your desire.

 

Focus often speaks to the time and energy we invest in a particular aspect we deem important, and that more often than not there are assured dividends.

 

Repositioning your focus this year entails that you watch out for all distractions of life as they stunt growth. These may include dealing with toxic people, perpetual procrastination, laziness, inconsistency, and lack of determination among others.

 

Various research findings suggest that if you keep the mind dwelling on anything such as self-criticism, self-pity, fear, regret, and guilt among others, that’s what tends to shape your brain.

 

Meaning you remain vulnerable to the same negative elements. The opposite is also true, and the power of positive attraction comes into effect.

In studies when you focus, growth is eminent in eloquence and articulation of what one assimilates.

 

This is true in all circles of life, that when you remain focused, even when growth is slow, eventually the seed sprouts from the ground, and growth is imminent!.

 

What you focus on-Grows….. So do not postpone, do not feel lazy, do not be discouraged, and keep the focus because growth is on the way!
