…Introspection Time with JBM

THE theme ” unstoppable’ resonates with me at this hour of writing this article. I have been in self isolate after getting exposed to some case of covid 19, and just realised some article needs to be done.

Despite my current health status of feeling weak with other symptoms I have resolved that this would not deter me from completing this task.

Being unstoppable entails a mood and attitude one creates that insinuate the need to keep pushing a particular agenda, dream and desire against all odds. Furthermore, thinking through the theme is a reminder that life can be seen as war, or battle that each time one has to fight on towards achieving their goal and dreams. It is not an easy sail.

Being unstoppable therefore helps one achieve great heights in their academic ambitions, business, social and spiritual life. This article is a reminder that in life once you put your hands to the plough- the need to become deliberate to remain unstoppable is inevtlitable, failure to which you invite a continuous swim in the sea of perpetual failure and procrastination.

A few deliberate disciplines that can help one create the unstoppable attitude would include the following;

Conscious of time
A realisation that time is limited and that we ride on borrowed time clouds much of their conscience. This enables you to work with a sense of urgency and never bows down to procrastination.

Passionate
When you set your hands to the plough you allow yourself to be passionate enough about your efforts towards your goals or dreams. This entails having an inner drive that is not dependent on external factors.

Determination
A person who is determined is one who has convinced themselves of the possible outcome of their actions. Normally this emanates from some imagination of a bigger picture of their efforts and they draw undeniable conviction of that possibility. Determined to overcome all forms of obstacles which more often are viewed as stepping stones to higher achievements.

Resilience
I have been doing some study in Gwembe on the resilience levels of the rural communities in the district against perpetual droughts. Being resilient therefore is the ability to withstand pressures of some event or experiences and be able to bounce back. Being unstoppable will require one to build their mental resilience, where by they admit that the journey will not be easy but surely they will keep pushing without allowing themselves to be deflated.

Keeping to the lane
As an athlete at one time in secondary school, I understand very well the discipline of maintaining one’ s lane. This speaks of competition and how you perceive it. Benjamine Hardy once said…”endeavour not to compete with others but rather let them compete with you”.

This suggest the need to sharpen one’s craft/ skill/ talent/ service in a way that breads obvious authenticy and difficult to replicate. Simply put , be good at what you do. Aim for excellence and you cannot be stopped!

Being spontenous
I am a strong believer in being spontenous about some ideas that cross my mind and it has worked wonders. Two years ago once I got some understanding about village banks and their benefits, I spontaneously invited some friends to consider being part of one.

Overwhelmingly so, 5 other village banks got born within a space of two weeks. They accounted for about 130 beneficiaries combined.

In other words, being spontenous means you do not wait until all conditions are comfortable and favourable. Infact you avoid labouring on ‘ what if ‘ kind of questions but simply shoot and observe how many” birds” get trapped. You simply act on that idea without bothering what other people will say or how you will be judged.
This is a sure way of breaking that dream or idea paralysis.

Remaining Hungry
A person who is hungry sees no obstacles or huddles. When you are hungry to achieve something, you will give yourself permission to be uncomfortable for the sake of what you envisage to accomplish. When you are hungry you attract other disciplines such being persistent, consistent, determined among others
Les Brown once said people who are hungry never stop wanting to learn from others, break barriers to interact with quality people who add value to their assignment in life. They are like a sponge that suck any amount of water around.

Lastly- They remain in control
When you are unstoppable you take charge of your life and debug , declutter and get rid of any habits or friends or spaces deflating your zeal You simply rework out your life regularly and believe you can become a better version of yourself at any moment in time. You make effort to get rid of all sources of negative energy and remain in control.
