THE BANK of Zambia (BoZ) has confirmed that it has lost control of its Facebook page.
Without giving details of how hackers hijacked the page, BoZ assistant Director communications, Besnart Mwanza told Kalemba in a statement that the Central Bank regretted the development and was conducting a thorough review of the incident.
Mwanza explained that BoZ was currently working closely with relevant law enforcement to ensure that the matter was addressed and the page was “restored to full functionality as soon as possible”.
“Members of the public are urged not to interact with the affected page until further communication. They can, however communicate with the bank using other channels including Twitter and LinkedIn. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused,” stated Mwanza.
This morning Zambians, woke up to a salacious photo of a romancing caucasion couple facing each other in sitting position with tongues stuck out in near-smooch posture as the cover page of the Bank of Zambia Facebook while a photo of a hot seductress had assumed the profile photo space.
While page followers made fun of the incident with some joking that the admin had fallen prey to a scam to make a little “samfing”, the incident has shown that no one is safe from the cunning and criminal works of internet hackers.
