The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has urged the public to actively engage in revenue mobilization efforts to achieve economic independence for Zambia.
While the authority has made significant progress in enhancing revenue mobilization strategies, it is still facing challenges of low levels of compliance from taxpayers.
In a statement released by ZRA corporate communications manager Oliver Nzala ZRA has emphasized its commitment to improve in engaging with taxpayers, and listening to their concerns.
Nzala therefore appealed to taxpayers to meet the authority halfway by complying with tax regulations and embracing the technology introduced by the authority.
“To reach the target revenue of 93.6 billion for 2023, ZRA has implemented various initiatives, including expanding the tax register, providing enhanced taxpayer education, and improving customer service.”
“The authority plans to increase taxpayer mobilization and sensitization, strengthen the taxpayer registration program, leverage technology, and enhance tax education, among other measures,” Nzala said.
He stated that paying tax is a collaborative effort by every Zambian, and so ZRA will continue to intensify tax education so that taxpayers are made aware of their obligations and entitlements.
